Gospel of Life School

The Gospel of Life School (GOLS) is an opportunity to live discipleship. While a part of this program, you are known as a “Missionary” because that is what you are! You are a disciple on mission, serving the poor elderly, praying, learning and giving God the opportunity to form you into the person he wants you to be.

While at GOLS you will live at one of our three locations in Oklahoma and Texas. Your day will begin and end with the opportunity to pray before our Lord in the chapel and will include daily Mass and Liturgy of the Hours.

In between, you will experience opportunities to serve our elders and the entire Gospel of Life Disciples community. You will attend lectures and classes, some of which may qualify for college credit.

You will have discussions of faith with leading national figures in discipleship, Skype with Franciscan Friars in Assisi, and participate in prayer, pilgrimage and pro-life opportunities.

You may cook a meal, wash some dishes, visit with friends, old and young, go for a run, read a book, study some Spanish, go to spiritual direction, participate in a faith sharing group, mow the lawn, or have a discussion with one of our residents. You will have the opportunity to serve them in all sorts of ways. Sometimes it may be challenging, but you will find Jesus Christ because “whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me.”

You will, in a word, live as a disciple of Jesus, a Missionary Disciple, and by the end, you will be a closer friend of our Lord Jesus and hopefully know better his will for you and the the next part of your life.

The Gospel of Life School isn’t just another gap year service program. You are a Missionary. And you are a Disciple.

School Year Program

Our flagship program is nine-months, lasting from September to the beginning of June. We roughly break up the year by the liturgical seasons as they occur. You have the opportunity to visit home for breaks and we schedule a retreat and pilgrimage opportunities as part of the experience.

Summer Program

The Summer Program is a simplified and condensed version of the School Year program with the opportunity to participate in all four of the pillars of our program: prayer, formation, community and service.

One-Year Extended Program

The one-year program provides the opportunity to serve one calendar year as a GOLS Missionary. You can begin the program either in June or in August and simply serve the next contiguous twelve months.
